Enamel shades by Juheko
The enamel lamp shades are Juheko's own designs. Our aim was to revive the unique feeling of genuine enamel covered metal. The lamps are first hand spun using the metal spinning technique. They are then sent to an enamel factory in Hungary where they receive their unique colors. It is possible to press textures, shapes or text onto the surface upon request.
The lampshades are handmade in small quantities. They are made from high quality 1mm metal sheet, then enamelled. Enameling means fusing powdered glass onto a metal surface at a high temperature between 750°C and 850°C. The glass powder melts, flows and then hardens into a smooth and durable glass coating. It gives the surface a unique shiny classic look.
LOCALLY MADE
For us, it is very important to manufacture our products locally. Contrary to what most companies do, we don't first look for ready made products, but we design and have them manufactured if possible. We prefer to pay for quality and uniqueness, not the price of products shipped from the other side of the globe.
In a small country like Estonia, supporting local craftsmen is also important. Many of our products are made to order, which means that our customers can get unique and personalized products even in smaller quantities. In a global market, if we were all looking for the same big manufacturing company, eventually everyone would be selling the same things. Local design and production creates diversity, sustainability and is ecologically positive, and plays an important role in preserving industrial heritage.
